"A Tarde" wins Best Art Direction at the MMVA 2025.

"A Tarde" at the iconic Chez Georges, in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, a space where brutalism meets Carioca tropicality, offering a stunning view of Guanabara Bay. With its exceptional natural acoustics, it has hosted intimate sessions and recordings by artists who move between Brazil and the world. Names such as Luedji Luna, Liniker, and Adi Oasis have already passed through here, making it a kind of sonic sanctuary in the heart of the city. The idea came from Ana Mendes, who conceived, produced, and creatively directed the project. Her vision stemmed from the desire to capture the essence of Gisela Mabel’s music in dialogue with space and nature, revealing the truth of the moment. Under her direction, the camera becomes an extension of sight and sound, moving with the delicacy of one who observes without interfering, allowing the environment, light, and sound to guide the narrative. The MATE Music Video Awards is an international competition dedicated to celebrating the creative intersection between music, film, and contemporary visual language. Part of the official program of the MATE Festival – Music, Art, Technology, and Education, it is an exhibition and award that aims to highlight music videos across all genres, focusing on aesthetic innovation, narrative strength, diversity, and social impact. The 2025 edition took place from October 23 to 26 at the Convento São Francisco in Coimbra, Portugal.

Pianist Gisela Mabel closes the "Há Música na Casa da Cerca" cycle. 

The Portuguese-Angolan pianist, composer, and producer Gisela Mabel will close the Há Música na Casa da Cerca series in Almada. It is the final concert of this year’s edition, and it is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, at 6 p.m., in the Greenhouse of the Botanical Garden. 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair 2025

From October 16 to 19, 2025, Gisela Mabel will collaborate in the "Earthworks" project by Mónica de Miranda, at '1-54', the first and only international art fair dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora, which takes place in London, United Kingdom. "Earthworks" will be developed in the courtyards of Somerset House and is a site-specific installation, inspired by "social sculptures" as meeting spaces, connecting ecology, history, memory, body and space. Pianist Gisela Mabel will participate in "Earthworks", by Mónica de Miranda, with "Mútuo" (“Mutual”), which is born from the reciprocity between the particular and the universal. "Mútuo" (“Mutual”) is a performance that mediates connections and catalyzes an emotional, sensory experience and joint perception, summoning attention, listening and community presence, and conveying the dehierarchized idea that each individual influences the collective. It will therefore be a space for meeting, activation of memories and relationship between subjectivities. The performance stimulates this immaterial dialogue between the reminiscences of the past and the infinite hypotheses of becoming.

Gisela Mabel has just released an exclusive live session, recorded at the iconic Chez Georges, in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. A space where brutalism blends with the tropical essence of the city, offering a breathtaking view over Guanabara Bay. With its remarkable natural acoustics, it has hosted intimate sessions and recordings by artists who move between Brazil and the world. Names like Luedji Luna and Adi Oasis have already passed through, making it a kind of sonic sanctuary in the heart of the city. A collaboration with Salve Salve Studio, which brought out every nuance of the performance — embracing the ambient sounds as part of the composition: the wind rustling through the trees, the birdsong, the humming, and even Mabel’s breath, making everything feel more organic, more intimate. The recording was led by Renato Godoy, who has worked with icons of Brazilian music such as Jorge Ben Jor and Gilberto Gil.

This initiative was created and developed by German pianist and composer Nils Frahm and has spread worldwide since its first edition. The selection was made from around 164 EPs that we considered the best of 2024. These EPs were added weekly to our “highlighted releases” throughout the year and were regularly listened to. After this curation, we narrowed it down to a final list of 80 EPs, which were voted on by the team. After multiple listens, the list was reduced to the final 50.
