Gisela Mabel is a Portuguese-Angolan pianist, composer, and producer, born in the Algarve and based in Lisbon. Her music blends influences from classical, jazz, and contemporary music with African and Brazilian rhythms, creating a rich and pulsating sound that combines emotional depth with intense rhythmic vitality. The result is an expressive style that invites the listener into a moment of introspection and intimacy, offering an immersive and emotional experience.
Mabel became the first Portuguese artist to be included in the official Piano Day compilation with an exclusive composition titled TRANSLUCENT. Piano Day was founded by the renowned German pianist and composer Nils Frahm.
Gisela Mabel made her live debut in 2024 as an independent artist at Ageas Cool Jazz, where she presented her first EP, ÁLBUM DE RETRATOS, released in September of the same year.
Since then, she has been consolidating her presence in the Portuguese and international music scene, performing in various prominent venues. She also participated in the NOS Alive festival and performed at Casa Capitão in Lisbon in a concert celebrating the first anniversary of her debut EP, which was awarded Best Jazz Album of the Year by SoloPiano.
More recently, Gisela had the pleasure of performing in London as part of the “Earthworks” project by artist Mónica de Miranda, presented at 1-54, the first and only international fair dedicated to contemporary African art and its diaspora, held at the iconic Somerset House.
ÁLBUM DE RETRATOS was born from the desire to unite and give shape to what was essential in bringing me to this point. It explores the essence of memories and emotions, as if we were flipping through a moving photo album. It is at once a portrait and an interpretation of people, moments, cultures, generations, and feelings.
