Gisela Mabel is a Luso-Angolan pianist, composer, and producer, born in Algarve and based in Lisbon. Her music brings together influences from classical music, jazz, and contemporary composition with African and Brazilian rhythmic traditions, resulting in a distinctive artistic language defined by melodic expressiveness, emotional depth, and a strong rhythmic pulse. Her musical journey began with classical piano studies at the Olhão Conservatory of Music and later evolved in Lisbon through the study of jazz and an immersion in Brazilian music. Alongside this, her connection with African music became a central pillar of her artistic identity, strengthening the relationship between musical creation, cultural heritage, and the pursuit of a unique musical voice.

In 2021, she released her debut single, Sonho de Abril, followed by Quietação in 2023. In 2024, she made her live debut as an independent artist at Ageas Cool Jazz, performing on the Cascais Jazz Sessions by Smooth FM stage, where she premiered her debut EP, Álbum de Retratos, released in September of that year. Following this milestone, she was invited to perform on the main stage of Ageas Cooljazz 2026, where she is scheduled to appear on July 22.

In 2025, Gisela Mabel became the first Portuguese artist to be featured on the official Piano Day compilation, the international project founded by Nils Frahm. During the same period, she strengthened her presence on both the Portuguese and international music scenes, performing at renowned venues and festivals including NOS Alive, Convento de São Francisco, and Casa Capitão, where she celebrated the first anniversary of Álbum de Retratos, which was awarded Jazz Album of the Year at the SoloPiano Awards.

Her international career also expanded with a performance in London as part of Earthworks, a project by artist Mónica de Miranda presented at the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair at Somerset House, the first and only international art fair dedicated to contemporary African art and its diaspora. The following year, she performed at Piano City Milano, one of Europe's leading piano festivals, with a concert at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Milano (GAM), as well as at Espacio Cultural Serrería Belga in Madrid, further reinforcing her growing presence on the international circuit.

Alongside her live performances, she released a music film recorded at Chez Georges in Rio de Janeiro, which received the Best Art Direction award at the MATE International Festival. These recent achievements reflect the steady growth of an artistic career that continues to gain recognition both nationally and internationally. In 2025, Gisela Mabel was also named one of the BANTUMEN Power List 100, recognising her as one of the 100 most influential personalities of the year.
